Fostering Hope: Local Adoption Options

Thinking of becoming a foster parent? Maybe you’re considering adoption? Organizations all over Greater Sacramento host regular orientation meetings where there’s no commitment and no obligationjust a chance to get to know the process, have your questions answered, and learn more about the kids (all ages, infants to teens).

Koinonia Family Services

With offices in Loomis and Sacramento, Koinonia host several introductory meetings, offering information and training, throughout the year.

Lilliput Children's Services

Lilliput offers informal orientation meetings throughout Northern California. Contact your local office for details, and learn how to become a foster or adoptive parent.

Two orientation classes take place each month (offered in English and in Spanish), on alternating Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6-9pm. Childcare is not available; orientations are for adults only.

Sierra Adoption Services
SACRAMENTO CENTER: 8928 VOLUNTEER LANE, SUITE 240 IN SACRAMENTO
An orientation meeting on Exploring Adoption and Foster Care (EAFC I) is offered every month. Meetings in Nevada City generally take place on the first Wed from 6-9pm. Sacramento County residents can attend orientation meetings on the second Monday of most months, 6-9pm.

Yolo County Foster Care
500 JEFFERSON BLVD SUITE A IN WEST SACRAMENTO

The County agency offers free classes and workshops to those interested in being foster or adoptive parents, in addition to those who are already parenting. Most classes are held at Woodland Community College and the Yolo County Building in West Sacramento. "Introduction to Foster Care & Adoption in Yolo County" workshops are held every Monday and Wednesday this month, 6:30-9:30pm.
