B Street Theater

Dreary winter days scream out for a little drama and excitement and what better way to get out of the house and into the spirit of the holidays than by getting dressed up and going to the theatre!  Little girls can wear their fancy dresses (or not) and the whole family can enjoy the magic of a live performance.  Got a drama queen?  She’s no match for the evil Snow Queen!  And unruly children will learn the importance of keeping an innocent and pure heart.

The Snow Queen, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale is the story of two children separated by an evil Snow Queen and the power of love that reunites them.  Children will be drawn into the story thanks to B Street’s intimate venue with tiered seating, so that no one misses an evil (or happy!) beat.  Buck Busfield, B Street’s Artistic Director says “often, parents leave surprised at how engaged their children are in the shows.”  Even a typically unruly 4 year old will become engrossed in the wonder of the theatre.  Because it’s a family friendly production small outbursts of untimely laughter are not frowned upon.

B Street is the only Professional Theatre for Children in Northern California and is proud of its contribution to local kids with their family series program and by also offering school matinee performances.  Buck Busfield explains that early theatre experiences are valuable to children because, “they help them develop literary skills, problem solving techniques, social interaction skills and artistic expression.”  Best of all, this great learning is done in a magical and memorable way right here in Midtown!

Don’t be surprised if after returning home, your small actors, get out the dress up box, jump up on the table and announce (dramatically) that your home is now ‘the theatre, dahling!’
